Midweek Icon - Jaguar E Type

The most beautiful car ever, Enzo Ferrari once said (and he's designed some top class stuff)

Brought out in 1961, the Jaguar E-Type was the perfect example of a car wth the speed, looks, and affordability all rolled into one package. With a top speed of nearly 150mph, it was no slouch. The Jag's engineering exceeded its time with rack and pinion steering, independant front and rear suspension, and discs brakes all round.

It really was, and still is, a thing of beauty. 3 generations (or series) of E type were produced, with the series ones being the most expensive (I'm talking like 100 grand plus if you want one, Maaaaaaaad Money) The 1st gen E type came with a 3.8L 6 pot engine which later changed to a 4.2. The 4.2 stayed on with the Series 2 Jags, which has updates such as head restraints, due to safety laws in the US. The series 3 E types saw a 5.3L V12 plant under the bonnet with nearly 280bhp, launching the car to 60 in sub 7 seconds.

The E-Type revolutionised the british motor industry, by throwing its flag up there with the italian horses and gaining the attention of the world. Jaguar re-invented how a vehicle can be designed, with smooth curves and a diving front end, and an exquisite interior lavished with leather.

Prices for the old girl are growing. Fast. As mentioned earlier a series 1 will set you back shit loads (That's not accurate, that.) The series 2's aren't far behind, fetching about 50 Grand plus. Series 3 cars are also around the same price tag but don't expect them to stay there long as they will rise, and rise quickly. Even a project car could set you back nearly 15 thousand pounds. Rest assured, if you do get your hands on one, it is worth keeping. One of the most revolutionary cars of its time, one of the most beautiful, and one of the most desirable. The E-Type Jaguar has definitely made it's mark on the map.

Pics!

It's amazing ain't it.

A limited edition "Lightweight" E Type, try and find one of these now ha!

The interior is sublime, I bet it smells awesome.

And a RHD one with cream leather, or brown leather, whatever leather.

This has to be one of the nicest E-Type colours. Gorrrrrrrrj.
